Hull's GB trio to face the Army at West Hull

THREE amateur rugby league stars from Hull will get the chance to represent their country on home soil when they line up for BARLA Great Britain under-21s against the Army at Walter Simpson Park on August 7.

Skirlaugh duo Scott Mountain and James Tindall as well as Myton Warriors' half-back star Kris Walker were all part of the successful under-21 squad which was unbeaten on their tour of Russia at the end of June.

They will now line up at the home of West Hull ARLFC on Saturday, August 7 (12pm kick off) in what will be the first time the BARLA under-21 side has faced the Army.

The under-21s were coached in Russia by Hull-based Tony Spence, who will lead the team for the friendly next month.

He watched as his side beat a Moscow select side 36-0 on the first game of their tour.

In that game, Mountain impressed at second row and raced 30 yards before selling the full-back a dummy to go over after the break, while Walker also came off the bench to cross.

Great Britain ended their tour with a 16-16 draw against Russian champions Vereya in a very physical game in front of 1,800 fans.

Walker started at scrum-half and after 10 minutes he made an excellent break and chipped the ball over the full back before gathering to score.

Skirlaugh's James Tindall, who did not play in game one, was sent clear only to lose the ball close to the line late on in the game.
