Four-star Shaul shines for Bulls

FOUR tries from James Shaul helped Skirlaugh Bulls make an impressive start to the GMB Union Hull & District League Premier Division season with a 40-18 win at West Hull Lions.

Tom Saltmer added a brace, while Rob Fuller had opened the Bulls' scoring within five minutes of the start and Ross Kemp ended with six from seven goals.

The Lions replied through Paul Kirby, Glen Bilton and Craig Carter, Pete Grayburn adding the three goals.

Hull Wyke gave Hull Dockers 'A' and the rest of the league a warning by holding the visitors to a solitary Andy Guynan try, converted by Craig Pickering, in a 28-6 win.

For the home side, Alec Hardie Junior carried on where he left off last season by amassing 12 points, one try and four goals.

Further points came from Andy Tovey, Gareth Calcutt and Andy Wilkinson all crossing the whitewash.

Orchard Park Greenwood and Parkers played out an ill-tempered game that had a mass brawl and three red cards.

OPG eventually came out winners by the one score, 26-20, Chris Armstrong scoring one try and kicking five goals.

Tries also came from Danny Collinson, Dave Opie and Gareth Bolton.

For Parkers tries came from Mike Bean, Ricky Marshall, Liam Parker and a debut try to much travelled Rich Longley, with Kristian Parker converting two.

Last season's Premier champions Norland Sharks are not going to relinquish their title easily and thrashed East Hull Dragons 42-4, with a solitary Greg Blanchard touchdown saving the whitewash.

Norland's points came from braces to Ben Jarrett and Ben Rowen, as well as a try apiece for Lee Miller, Charlie Jones, Lewis Jackson and Warren Smithies. Jones kicked one goal and Rowen four.
