MINUTES SILENCE

Request from RFL

Dear Colleague,

Following yesterday’s tragic events in Cumbria the RFL would like all teams to observe a minute’s silence ahead of their games this weekend.

It will cover all grades and age groups to mark the game’s sympathy and condolences to the family of Garry Purdham and the wider West Cumbrian community.

In addition, all teams should enter the field of play together rather than the away team being sent out first.

The referee will signal the start and end of the minute with his whistle. Clubs must ensure that players stand to attention in a line for the silence and do not form huddles or groups which may be misinterpreted as a lack of respect.

Many thanks for your co-operation.

Emma Rosewarne, RFL Operations Director
