BRANSHOLME Dales reached the final of the GMB Union Hull & District Council Cup for the first time in their history thanks to a 28-4 win over West Hull Lions.

Captain Alex Moody led his team from the front and crashed over on five minutes, with Craig Skelton converting for 6-0.

Following a scrappy 20-minute spell, Mike Beecher produced a solo length of the field try for Dales before Skelton put the Dales 14-0 up at the break when he nipped over from acting half.

Three minutes after the restart, Lee Forth caught the West Hull defence napping and jinxed over the white-wash, Skelton adding the extras for 20-0.

On the hour mark Anth Rhodes got his usual score for the Dales, with Skelton converting and then adding a further penalty on 76 minutes.

In between, a big team effort from the Lions saw Mike Cavill power over, with Kirk Collins' conversion hitting the crossbar.

In the GMB Council Trophy, Reckitts felt hard done by against Norland Academy.

With the scores locked at 28 apiece and extra time looming, referee Dick Thompson awarded a debatable penalty and Carl Rollinson made no mistake to put Norland into the final to face Holderness Vikings.

Reckitts' scorers were Ash Simpson, Steve Welburn, Tony Kirby, Sam Williams and Joe Williams, while Norland's Charlie Jones ran in a hat-trick, and Ben Jarrett and Steve Baker also crossed.
