Sully's Look for Final Success

The GMB Union Hull & District League is having an afternoon of cup finals tomorrow at Haworth Park.

The day starts at 1.30pm with the Jack Daddy Memorial Cup final between Bilton Sully's and Norland Academy.

The two teams are arch rivals – with Norland taking the Division One title trophy after Bilton had points deducted after Skirlaugh Academy dropped out of the league and Sully's had beaten them twice.

Keith Farr, the Bilton coach, is away so has left the team in the capable hands of Sean Casey senior and there are no reported casualties.

Gareth Fox and Nick Longley, the Norland coaches, also have a fully fit squad, the big headache for both teams is who to leave on the bench.

The second final is the Transport Cup between G W Horners and Lambwath Lions (kick off 3pm).

Once again we have a coach away, Russ Bowering for Lambwath, and he is leaving the team in the hands of the original coach, Charlie Redfearn.

Bowering said: "The lads are really looking forward to this final. We have had a four week lay off, giving us chance to get all the lads fit after a hard first season at open age.

"We will be looking for big games from captain Mark Ashurst, James Abel and Joel Freer, all the lads are looking strong, developing well and impressing."

Norman Norrie, the Horners coach, is equally as impressed with his squad who have done well in exceptional circumstances in their first season – having to play with 11 men on more than one occasion.
