SPENCE DELAYS SQUAD ANNOUCEMENT
Unison BARLA Great Britain Under 21’s Head Coach Tony Spence and his assistant Noel Horton have delayed the announcing of the final squad to play in a tournament in St Petersburgh Russia on the 27th June.
The touring party wasted no time in settling into their foreign headquarters and showed their intentions and work ethic with a full tilt training session in the early afternoon.
Head Coach Tony Spence siad
"The overnight sleeper finished a tough journey off for us and everybody was a little bit jaded, for some of the lads , especially the Cumbrians.
"The guys had travelled some 36 hours, we gave them a tough hour and half session to get their legs and heads working again and we were very impressed.”
“We were very impressed in how they knuckled down to the session, they were all really sharp, everyone talking and enthusiastic and up for this coming game, which is what you everything you want from international players.”
Spence also added
"This is a unknown quantity for us , but this will be a tough test for us all. I have installed a good work ethic into them and whatever is put in front of us we must make a good account of ourselves.
"There is no prizes for second place , this will also be a good platform for some of the guys to set the stall out to gain a place in the team to play in Moscow on Thursday. We will have a light session this afternoon and a swim later , where I will then chat with my assistant to decide how to win the tournament and what structure to play.
"I am really pleased with there efforts so far and the competition is good, Brett Phillips from Seaton looks good, and also Mark Cahill from Leigh East looks bouncing in training.
"We don’t want to go to Moscow empty handed."
